rns-d navigation fault
 

help needed please .
everytime i try to set a destination, my stereo turns off and on . tried everything , even swapping navigation discs, yet nothing is working . this has started since i changed the fuse....... i put in the correct code , so i know its not that..

do i need to reset the unit ?. if so, how do i do it

Do you mean the complete unit switches off, or just the navigation?

the complete unit switches off and reboots iyself . think the unit is an rns-c . it doesnt look like the rns-d .

the pic attached is the unit i have in my car, but is it an RNS-C or RNS-D ?

RNS-C - You couldnt get the RNS-D on prefacelift, it didnt arrive until late 2000 +++

could i fit a kenwood or other double unit in the car?...... just looking at other options

Dont see why not, physically it will fit fine, and wiring shouldnt be too hard... +++

i might just look at fittin a double din....... there again , not really bothered at the moment. just the fact that my unit keeps rebooting whenever i "enter destination" . if in enter destination manually , it works fine. but doesnt store anything. ever since i removed the fuse.... is there anyway of reseting the unit ?. or is it a case of using a Vag-com

Rebooting like that simply sounds broken to me. Should never be a need to reboot an RNS-C/D, and if you wanted to, you'd just unplug its power for a while. Vagcom is unlikely to tell you anything useful.....

its really weird , if i go into setting and enter manually it works fine. but if i try on main satnav screen it switches off and starts again .......
