Fuel in USA
1 Attachment(s)
Just watched Top Gear USA on iPlayer, this is the screen shot from USA highway petrol station. The best they have is 91 so how do they drive cars which say to use 98 octane?

Some places do higher octane, but essentially the cars are slightly detuned for US use.

A bit like the rest of their cars then!! :D
I'm amazed at that difference though. . . Ive tried to get into top gear USA but it's just not the same! Ewwww |
Apparently they use different rating system and their 91 is about 95 UK/EU

Interesting... So their home-grown engines are even worse than we thought if they run on equivalent fuel :)
|
The United States rating is not RON (Research Octane Number). The rating there is PON (Pump Octane Number).
The numbers you see on the pumps in the States is not equivalent to the same values used in the UK. |
Plus their gallons are a different volume to ours.
So a 10 gallon hat is actually 8.3267 gallons in real money. Doesn't sound the same |
