Phone question D2 S8
 

Hi Folks

Sold my A8 and got my dream car, a D2 S8.

Anyone any idea what kind of phone goes here ?

Also, in laymans terms, anyone know what i need to do to get the tv either showing digital tv or dvds?

Not 100% sure, but could be an old Nokia 6210/6310.

To get Digital TV, you'd need an external tuner unit to feed into the AV sockets. (which you may need to fit to the unit).

Ive read that its a Nokia 6210/6310 but would love to be sure before i buy one.

Think you'll find its a 3110 - You must have an early (1999/2000) Facelift S8, with the earlier fixed cradle.

Support for 6210/6310 didnt come until later with the interchangable Cullman cradles...

That looks exactly like the cradle in mine which takes an old Nokia 3110 (NHE-8) phone - 900MHz single-band so O2/Vodafone only.

I've still got the handset and it works - on a separate PAYG sim to my main phone. +++

Interesting comment, as mine is a 1998 PF S8 but fitted with that cradle.

HOWEVER....
There's documentation in the car for an earlier design, and none specifically for that one. Though I do have the handset original box complete with European (not UK) mains charger. :Confused:

So, maybe it was changed over at some time early in it's life? (I acquired it aged 3 and a half)

How practical is it to upgrade that to a later design that supports a dual-band phone, integrated in the the audio system of course? I have a couple of Nokia 6310i's for example, though no car-related cabling.

But that type of cradle pops out of an early facelift armrest, only as per the photo... :Confused:

On the Preface cars, the cradle sits between the two thinner armrests....

OK, I'm confusing you, sorry.

I was ONLY looking at the bit that holds the phone, not the supporting mechanism or armrest. :o

My phone cradle is between the 2 (narrower) armrests, actually fixed to the side of the drivers one and the lifting mechanism isn't very visible.

But my earlier question still stands:
