D2 A8 / S8 Weight Differential

I'm looking at the facelift models, in terms of comparison.

Is the S8 heavier than the A8 4,2 QS? Sure the later facelift S8 has Brembo calipers and larger discs, but an early facelift S8 will have similar brakes to a facelift 4,2 QS? And equipment levels are similar. I doubt the S8 engine would weigh more than a 4,2 QS on the same year.

Another thing - I see the weight of the facelift S8 often posted as 1,750 kgs. Is that weight for a base model (do they exist?)? Because my car has the weight on the V5 as 1,858 kgs. I put her on a weighbridge with about 12 litres of gas in the tank, and the digital readout showed 1,853 kgs. Is that about right? I'm curious to know what your V5's say! And if anyone has their weight printed as 1,750 kgs?

Please post your weights, and state if it's an S8, 3,7 or 4,2 QS. Just for comparison, please state if your car is pre or post-facelift.

My PF S8 has no weight on the V5 - just got a new one too!
The brochure, as I've mentioned quite recently in another thread, says 1750kg - as is the non-S8 4.2.

^^^ Interesting. It stands to reason the pre-facelift S8 will have similar weight to the PF 4,2 QS. And the early facelift S8 (non-Brembo) will have similar weight to the FL 3,7 / 4,2 QS.

Some publications (including the original features in Volkswagen Audi Car Magazine) give different values for S8 and A8.

1750kg is the base kerb for all A/S8 line with driver and fuel. Actual weight without driver and fuel is on build sticker

Toys make all the difference, drivetrain / engine for all the 4.2's will be very similar I imagine. Yes, the brembo calipers / discs would weigh a little more on the FL S8 I dont doubt, but then they have ally hubs compared to earlier steel ones, so cant be a right lot in it.

Twin pane glass, electric seats, Navigation, Bose, Solar roof, Blinds, Removeable towbar, ally mirrors, heated windscreen etc etc, all adds weight....

At the end of the day though, a 100 litre fuel tank to the brim will add as much weight as most of that lot above put together.... +++

^^^ Twin pane glass was standard on all facelift V8 models, optional on V6...or so I've been lead to believe...

I know the extras would add to the weight, but mine doesn't have:

01) Solar moonroof.
02) Electric rear seats.
03) Factory towbar.
04) 8,5"x 20" wheels.
05) Enhanced leather pack.
06) Auxillary heater.

I wonder what a D2 with all possible options weigh?

Wait a minute - did you say 100 litre fuel tank? I thought it was 90?

That pretty much correlates with the details on both my build stickers - in my trunk, and my service book.

Sorry, might be 90 or 92. I may be getting muddled on Q7/D3/D2... Been a while...

Electric front seats add considerably weight over and above their manual counterparts, especially as electric seats add electric seatbelt and steering wheel adjust....

i have quite a list of options but i would like to just ask, when you say rear electric what do you mean ? my rears are both heated and fully adjustable -recline, are they not adjustable on all A/S 8's ?
