Dealing with Stonechips, bumper grazes and Lacquer
it seems all I do is post new threads on how do i do this and that but I am keen to sort out my tired facelift D2.
My D2 has what I consider to be a very high mileage and the paint is far from perfect given its done 174K miles. Ideally I would like to tidy up the front end a little as it looks its got measles from all the stone chips. There are also some grazes on the bumper in the corners as well. How much do you think it would cost to get the frontend tidied, I would guess the bonnet and bumper would need respraying. Also The lacquer on the boot seems to have bubbled in a couple of places, is it possible to have that sanded back to the base coat in the affected areas and a fresh coat of lacquer applied. Any recommended places in the Poole / Bournemouth / Blandford area of Dorset. |
Here you go have a lookie though these. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...ght=stone+chip
I also have some bubbling but be aware the paint is quite thick when you get digging those bubbles out, as i found when i started playing with my filler cap. The finnish is less than perfect shall we say, although i don't have any bubbles. Stone chip kits can be bought from places like paints4u where you'll get a good little kit that has everything you need. |

I managed to get some touchup paint, assuming I have the right shade of blue. I though the car was Aqua Blue as I have a number of Audi invoices with that as the colour, but looking the paint code up it comes back as a different shade namely Santorin Blue.
I have the Santorin Blue touchup, so I guess I'll find out soon if thats right. |
It is the latter, santorin blue.
