Hi all im in the market looking for 2 W12 A8 LWB or short dose not really matter

is there things to worry about when buying a high miler ? cam chains ect do they need changing or are they fairly good

im looking at one that has 150k on it and the other 89k on it
reason im after two is they must match need two in black they are going to be fleet cars

You going down the A8L_Chick route? If so I recommend a TDI LWB. +++

Shame it has to be black... There's a garage have two in silver, and the one I looked at last weekend in silver is immaculate.

Issues with W12 - Thermostat is in the guts of the engine, a grand at an indie to fix, simply because of all the bits you need to remove to get to it! Part is like 20 quid.

Tensioner chain rattle not good, expensive to fix

Cats - stupidly expensive to fix

Oil leaks, if it's just the top of then engine and they're small, maybe nothing to really worry about, but further down, usually expensive.

The rest is really standard D3 stuff.

YES it is the black one with reg W12 BLK 150k

i spoke to the chap today and he sed that its all spot on and never had problems with the cats on it, and i asked about the the thermostat and he sed that it was changed at 130k buy an audi/porsh aprooved garage and that it has plenty of history ect, told him i will give him 10k cash on collection take it or leave it and he sed yes he will take it, so its all a case of getting down there and asking some one if they could come take a look at it for me some one that knows the W12 quite well and can advise me accordingly, it dose seem to be rather a high spec and i love the fridge and all the other toys witch is what im after really,
there was a reason i wanted to go out in darrens and it dose tick the boxes that im after finding another one in black to match may be a challenge but it will come up im sure

any other nasty's too look for ?

... and the report wasnt good. I bet he nearly bit your hand off at 10K...

8k would seem a bit more realistic in my mind.....

I don't think the term sh*t heap was used, but seem to recall 'it's lived every one of it's 150k miles'

thats why I posted the link to the thread above, OK heres the summary:tuttut:

OK.. Ben's been to see the car and it's nothing like the advert. The seller is a trader that Ben's been to see cars at before.

Quick and not exhaustive list:

- Lambda errors, sensors and probably a new cat as there's scuffs underneath where it's hit a speed bump
- Couple of small oil leaks from the engine
- Coolant leaking
- Looks tatty (not like the pictures), and not been cleaned for a while
- Looks all of its 150k miles

So it's a no from me

I wasn't far off with the quote though :D
