GruvenParts
Just recieved my 1" arms from www.gruvenparts.com and replaced the broken arm on the RH (as you look at it) inlet vacum pod. Easy to do, after taking off the engine cover. Just pushfit the old off & on with the new, all done by hand. Took her for a spin and noiced quite a difference on my now 190K 2002 S8. Between 2,000rpm & 4,000 there is definately more torque and so the gbox does not need to kickdown as much. All in all a major performance improvement for £80. I'll see if it improves the 23.6 mpg average and post any changes. Well worth checking out if yours have snapped as most do and go undetected.

do the 3.7 40V V8's have these arms as well, or are they only the domain of the 4.2?. At 175,000 miles should I be checking.

I expect it does - just pull the top engine cover off and they're visible on the front of the engine - couple of bellows is all it is +++
You may even be able to use the 2" arms advertised recently? |

I'm averaging 17.9 mpg :(
|
I've averaged 14.9mpg overall since I started making a note of fuel fills last March.....
Tank average ranges from 12 to 20.2mpg - that's calculated average, not DIS lies! |
