Driving in France
As i come up to another trip to france, ive just been told about new regs
First is that they have made the use of speed camera equipment including database files illegal, and have the power to sieze sat navs, waring devices, or car if built in. fortunately/unfortunately a8s dont have this issue. second - a new law will require all vehicles to carry 2 breathalisers. This doesnt make much sense to me, these people knowingly drive drunk, so why would they take a breathaliser test. i understand the sentiment but they would probably save more lives by getting the shooting fraternity to carry them instead, they routinely down shots of Pineau before during and after shoots. a relative of mine went on such a shoot and had never been so scared in his life. :) one of these laws is already in force the other expected in april, cant remember which way round it was, think the breathaliser is already in |
Breathalyser from 1st July. Link

 So are they there so you can breathalyse yourself or just so its convenient for the gendarmes and they dont have to use theirs? Do you perform a citizen's arrest on yourself if you are over the limit or give yourself a stern talking to and get the bus home??? :)
Sound's like trebles all round for the kit manufacturers! |
Hmm so you have to have one whenever you travel through France. . . I wonder how long they last before the sell by date expires
What total craziness. Do they really think that the type of person who drinks and then drives is gonna test themselves properly in their drunken stupor and then stop themselves from driving??? crazy. . . lol |
I don't know the details but I would assume they mean the disposable parts for the police breathalysers to save money.
|
i bet shares in that breathaliser company were snapped up by those who knew this would be happening. and the ferry and tunnel people will have kits availab
le at a much greater cost than elsewhere. yet more crap to have to carry with you, totally useless idea, the gendarmes are also allowed to hide in bushes to use there radar guns. in my parents local area in the charente they have also been getting hot on stopping at a junction and using your handbrake, not doing so is an immediate fine, some locals have been fined and been cited for not coming to a stop for x amount of seconds even though there is no law that actually regulates how many minimum secs you should be stopped for. |
