Will these rims fit?
Hi Guys, quick question...
I have an Audi A8 4,2 quattro D2 from 1994 I have bid on an auction for some 10 spoke parallel design 2012 A8 original rims size 265/40-20R... and I have won it, approx 2600 USD These : http://www.motortrend.com/photo_gall..._photo_15.html I am afraid they might be pushing the envelope Can you tell me if this can even fit on a D2? Thanks in advance edit: Rims are 9''x20'' /Jake |
That link doesn't appear to work.

Not sure about the tyres...
Not sure about the tyres however for the alloys, which look awesome...you need to find out the pcd and the spigot size (the central hole that sits on the hub spigot)....
The pcd you need for the d2 is 112....I have a feeling the spigot size might be slightly larger than the spigot size on our d2 hub...However you can get adapters so the wheels will centre properly on the hub...They are about 10 pound for 4 so not too expensive.... Really the important thing to check is the pcd of these wheels....if you can get the part number then you will be able google it.... |

pcd 112 is a check spigot size on d2 is 57.1 mm(metric millimeter)... should be the same on all A8 models I believe. also the ET(of 37) is good as D2 has ET 40 original... theres no doubt in my mind that the rim itself will fit perfectly, my concern is that the tire of 265/40 on a 20'' rim, might be too big for the D2?? Cheers /Jake |
I ran 4x Michelin Pilot Sport 285/30/20 tyres on my D2 S8 no problem.

That your wheels(285/30-20) had a diameter of 26.7 inches(well within the green range), but the 245/40-20 is one inch more, so I am guessing the 265/40-20 might be 1 1/2 inch more? I have asked on all kinds of forums and it seems that I have to find out the hard way... fitting the wheels(when they arrive) and see if its possible. But thanks for the answers+++ /Jake |
265/40/20 is too big :(
But you own them now so i suppose your options would be run them on your car and be carefull about your speed as you'll be travelling faster than your clock says or sell them (if you can) and replace with the right size. The difference between a 265/40/20 and 245/45/18 is 42mm over the dia. 6.19%. 285/30/20 and 245/45/18 is 1mm 0.15% |
265/40 is going to give a lot of speedo error compare to the required tyre size on 20" rim even if you could get them on.

that all checks out Jake as others have said but you may well need to put 10 or 15mm spacers on your front wheels at least. Singh's 9" wheels were on a later S8 which had a slightly different brake and suspension set up to earlier FL cars and all PF cars (which yours is) - it is possible you will get some rubbing on the inner edges if you dont space them but as long as you are aware of this then its the worst case scenario that you might need to do this.
You also need to check the thickness at the hub to make sure that you dont need longer wheel bolts but again you can do this once you have the wheels there and measure against the existing ones. Great wheels - they look great on a D2 I think one of the German A8 Freunde guys has already used them too! http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1332179429 They also fit D3's - http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1332179429 |
