Rear bulb recommendations please
...one of my rears is out. Any recommendations over and above the obligatory Halfords option.
PS: it's one of the in-board boot lid ones. Should the DIS be telling me it's out, cos it's not:Confused: Cheers in advance, Zip |
I think you only get a warning on the brake lights.
Can't think of any reason to use other than a bog-standard bulb. |
Get them from your local main dealer - surprisingly cheap and generally decent quality. I ended up replacing all of mine as they were all different brightness!
The inner ones have the same fitting (it's offset so make sure it goes in the right way round!) as the outers BUT they need a narrow glass bowl so if they give you a traditional bulb shaped one it won't fit through the hole when you try putting it back in! Fittings are easy enough - just twist to release |
I've been thinking of trying LED bulbs both for rear light and the brake light.
Just gotta get around to order them :) One in my boot is also out, new bulb didnt help. Anyone had that before? |
I'm not keen on the led look unless you can change every bulb - since there's been some recent discussion on the centre brake light I guess that can be done too. I don't like it if there's a time lag difference between bulbs - it looks odd IMHO
Not sure why 1 wouldn't work unless there's an underlying wiring fault. Do you have 12v available when the light should be on? Sounds like you'll need to trace the fault back if not |
Would never buy bulbs from Halfrauds, rear bulb for my old leased car was around 2.99 from them, and 29p from local motor factors, was a decent brand too but dont remember which, try a decent factor, will be much cheaper+++

TPS do them for the grand sum of 17 pence each +++
