Home Renovation - On a more modest scale

The garage outfitting has gone on hold while I get the house updated. While in lodgings I enjoyed the versatility of the kitchen / living area and so have decided to take the kitchen / diner and turn it into a living / entertaining area. As someone mention holding the South West local meet on the drive I need somewhere to entertain.
:)

Here's the back of the house and patio:

The pile of rubbish is what has come out of the kitchen so far!!
Two days with a bully stick lifting vinyl flooring stuck down with god strength glue and thermoplastic tiles stuck down with god's dads' strength glue has given me one of these in each palm:

But the floor, which did look like this is clear (ish)!

So, after a couple of days with a lump hammer we have this:

and this:

Leaving this to rip out:

Skip arrives this morning. All rubbish gone and onto the floor laying, tiling, cabinet fitting, plumbing, electrics, painting and decorating, furniture and so on. Tomorrow I will rebuild the great wall of China! :D

Isn't that what the garage is for ?

Whilst not assuming to be an arbiter of interior taste, who thought that tudor beams with grey 70's tiles was a good combo? a bit like putting wagon wheels on an 8.:tuttut: (Not in any way equating the styling of the 8 with 70's tiling!)

Its a good idea. Have just done similar. Wife was opposed but with the connivance of the builder, the walls sort of melted away.

Then knowing that she would be unable to commit to such a decision I asked her where she wanted the new wall and door.

She looked perturbed, frowning, worried. And then Jason (builder) came to her rescue by saying " Why not live with it like this for a few days, then decide"

It is now completed, finished, done. And remains open :D

Good man that Jason +++

She loves it  (The new open plan thing)

Mike, you have it easy. You can do all the right things with no interferance. A bit like being in the Navy I expect

Why do we put ourselves through this torture every time we move house. I've been in my house almost 8 years and there is still loads to do, then when it's all done it will be back to the beginning and start all over again.

Its been like that since we lived in caves. (See F Flintstone).
