Full front control arm kit - £90

Hi,

I recently purchased a full set of front control arms, drop links, bolts and track rod ends for my 02 A8 QS.

These are one of the cheap chinese kits but the build quality does appear to be pretty good. I only do around 7000 miles a year so if they don't last as long as OEM then I wasn't too concerned. If OEM/Meyle etc are four times the price I doubt they last four times as long. I used to work for a rubber polymer manufacturer so at least I can say that with some confidence with regards to the rubber bushes.

Unfortunately I sold the car before having a chance to fit them. Still brand new in the box.

£90 plus £8 delivery.

Any questions just ask.

Cheers

John

Not needed for me, just thought I comment on cheap makes on my experience.

The ones I bought were from Germany and claimed to be German made and came with 2 year warranty. After using several kits on own and friends A4, A6 and A/S8 cars I can say that arms and bushes seem to last well (20k+ and counting) but are transmitting more noise and vibration then OEM. Track rod ends from the kits on the other hand seem to have 50/50 chance to wear out around 7-10k mark. Some are OK, others does not last.

Hi Ainarr/Conan,

Agreed on your thoughts above. As mentioned I only do about 6-7000 miles a year so if they lasted me 2-3 years then that seemed fine to me for the price. From what you say the TRE's may be the weak point but at least they are cheap enough and probably the easiest of the kit to replace when needed. If I was doing 20k a year I think I would have plumped for the Meyle or Febi Bilstein kits.

Conan, all the boxes have part numbers on as does the kit so ill check tonight. One thing I was actually really impressed with was how well it was all packaged. I would have thought they would have all been just crammed in a box! Incidentally which year is your car?

Cheers

I'm interested if Mike doesn't want them provided they fit a 2000 S8. I don't have access to the part numbers for my car.

Hi Mike,

My car was a 2002 A8 QS so, theoretically, should have the same FL running gear as the FL S8.

I think the only inconsistency between PF and FL cars is the ball joint taper size. The supplier stated this kit would be right for the 02 A8 QS. I'm sure they would swap the arms if incorrectly supplied.

This is assuming Conan doesn't want them!

Thanks

John

Thanks peeps
