2001 S8 Exhaust tips... are they removable?
 

I'm looking at removing the rear silencer and just having a pair of straight pipes.

If I could use the stock tailpipe tips (one piece), it would be a very neat and factory look.

Has anyone ever tried to remove one from the silencer?

From memory, it's an angle grinder to remove :)

I have quad tip exhaust custom kit that I won at A8parts open day. I was thinking of fitting it my S8 but I am having second thoughts now as it requires non reversible modifications to rear bumper and it was pretty loud when it was on Mike's car so I am considering selling it and investing money otherwise in car.

I will get some pics and post here. Not sure about price so will probably put on e-bay and let the market decide. I would think it had cost £600-1000 for Mike to make it.

I had to cut it to fit in the car sot it needs to be welded up or otherwise joined.

Some of the welds are nice that Mikes mate have done with TIG and others not so good that Mike did himself with MIG

Looks v nice but as I'm still looking to use the engine from my car in something else, spending that much on an exhaust which will only be on for 6 months isn't happening.

I'm looking rather more towards the £20 for a length of pipe from eBay and adding the stock tailpipes onto it.

Thanks though, it gives me some ideas for the exhaust on the van when I fit the engine.
