2001 FL A8 3.7 QS Value

I am trying to decide wether I should attempt to fix the front crankshaft oil seal, or sell the car on. Due to its age though, and the problem I cannot get an online value.

Car details.

2001 (March) FL 3.7 Quattro Sport in Santorin Blue, Grey (Platinum) leather / alcantara interior,
177,000 miles
MOT May 2013 (no advisories)
Tax October 2012
Symphony double din HU with six CD changer
Bose sound system,
Sat-Nav (the text based one on the DIS) with original 2007 map.
Rear electric blind, Rear side window manual blinds
Glass Sunroof
Rear heated Seats
Electrically adjustable (rake / reach) steering column.
Xenon plus (BI-Xenon) headlights.

Acres of paperwork going back 10 years, including every MOT cert and a selection of tax discs, receipts for work etc.

I am owner number 3,
First Owner, Audi UK (dealer demo)
Second Owner, Private and he owned the car for 10 years,
Third Owner, Me purchased at the end of December 2011.

Cambelt, tensioners, water pump, thermostat, V belt were all changed mid Jan 2012.
Four brand new tyres fitted in Jan 2012.

Paintwork needs some attention to remove swirl marks, and has loads of chips on the front and also some obvious signs that some panels have seen some new paint. There are 2 accident repair quotes in the paperwork I have. and there are a few scratches here and there.

Keeping in mind the car currently has a leaking front crankshaft oil seal, for which I have had a quote of just short of £400 to replace including another cambelt how much is this car realistically worth in its current state or fixed.

Over the next 4 weeks the mileage is going to increase a lot, well at least 2,500 as the 8 is going to the Costa Del Sol on the annual family holiday.

If the rest of the car is good it would be worth keeping and repairing.

Buy another and you could have lots of problems

Keep her!

Mannyo, if you were closer, I wouldn't mind giving you a hand, just to keep another fellow 8 owner on the road, and avoid selling at a loss.

Nollywood, i assume you are over in Essex. The rest of my family live in Hertfordshire, so I am up there regularly. Failing that, I have a spare room down here and you are more than welcome.

I'll see how the car goes over the Spanish run, I am taking 3 litres of oil just in case but I can always buy some if needed whilst in Spain. Whilst the drive down from Santander is being done in short hops, one of my return legs is 500 miles in one day.

Manyyo, yes, I'm in Essex, so not too far from Herts. I'll be more than happy to fit a new seal, and timing belt to help out. Just send me a PM when next you're coming down to your folks. +++

Thanks for the offer of help, just need to work out what the front seal part number is. ETKA does not seem to list this as a separate part, so I'll need to go for an OE equivalent from somewhere.
