Engine Management System Warning

After great weekend at the annual meet and a very wet journey south to the Bristol area the EMS light has come on. :( . it's bank holiday monday and tomorrow is also a BH so garages are closed and I am faced with a journey back to Scotland tomorrow. Any advice? (apart from Easyjet Bristol to Glasgow!!)

David, I would guess its something to do with the non standard Cats, I have similar ones and I had the light come on a few months ago and Andy at A4 Audi just cleared them at it hasnt come back again (so far)

Is there nobody with Vag-Com around who can do a reset for you

David's8 4th June 2012 07:57 AM

Thanks for that guys. The light has stayed on this morning. I dont want to gamble with it being anything worse though... Plan A: Join RAC this morning.+++

Mine comes on sometimes, and again with mine its the cats playing up. A quick erase with Vag-com and it will stay off for another month or so before coming back on. If the car drives and feels fine then I would just drive it TBH.

Just drive it, and don't stress too much. As long as you have no misfires and don't drive WOT 80% of the time, you'll be fine.

Where else would you get advice at 0900 on a BH morning!! Many thanks. If there was someone with Vagcom near then I would try to stop by if they are able tp help.

I'm in Swindon with a Vagcom cable David but its probably a bit out of your way and I will be in London on Tuesday. CtL (Mike) may well be heading down towards Plymouth on Tuesday evening but I'm not 100% sure +++
