How much are 20" tyres?
Still looking at the first a8. Hoping to speak to vendor tomrow.
How much do people pay for the 20" tyres? With it being 4x4, is it vital for a matched set or at least pair across each axle? Just thinking about my experiences of my Legacy TT  TIA folks  |
Across an axle is more important.. but not essential but I'd be more keen on at least the same standard.
you can do either 1 or 3% out in circumference, but that's more than a worn tyre, so you're fine there. Fronts still wear a bit more than rears. 20s are anything up to 200+ a corner, depends on whether you go for part worns (60+) to brand new.. falkens, chinese specials, or all the way to pirelli or michelin. |
I had a quote for Michelin recently of around £270 each - baring in mind when mine were last changed I have a bill for £300 each about 2 years ago.
If tyre cost is an issue and the wheels are all good then flog them for around a grand and buy some 18s :D |
wot size?
255-35-20 ? or 275-35-20 ? |
He's looking for a D2 so 255/35R20

What's wear like on those? Can you get 15-20k miles out of them without grip issues?
|
I post a no vote for the accellara. Wet grip was lacking. Threw them away with pleasure.
Autogrips are genuinely lethal in the wet. Rapid loss of grip, span twice, swore, threw away. Current Sport contact three replacements are quite nice, worth the money for the confidence they inspire. wear minimal after 5k miles so far. Goodyears are nice but I wore the fronts out in 10k. Kuhmho ku13 or 19's were an impressive middle ground. Current crop of pirellis seem to buzz on poor road surfaces. www.blackcircles.com for price comparison purposes :) |
ive got acceleras on my skoda fabia, stuffed it round everywere ther brilliant
had them on my A8 there great with quattro no problems even got a set for track days 19" im impressed sorry there soooooooo cheap |
so Bushido its really a bit like how long is a piece of string:Confused: best advice is maybe do a bit of research on tyre tests/comparisons etc and then have a look for your preferred brand on some of the online sellers, I got a good deal on Falkens from Oponeo, also remember many different drivers and driving styles, expectations, budget etc etc also comes into play here
