Rear entertainment package? Tv?

Just bought an S8 and it's got TV/SatNav/multichanger (RNS-D maybe)
Can it play DVDs?

Can I add a digital tv tuner to it?
Is there a plug n play module that I can add for my iPod?

Lastly, what's a rear entertainment package and is it easy to retrofit?

RNS-D is CD based, but the later RNS-E which uses DVDs won't play DVDs either without an external unit connected as a source.

You can add a digi TV, but it'll have a hand held remote I believe as it's an external source. Not sure Audi produced a digi tuner for the RNS-D but there's plenty of info on this if you have a search +++

The rear entertainment pack has a single screen in the roof lining and is Sony based. It looks like an afterthought so if you really want the full multimedia suite in your car I'd look at binning the RNS-D and going aftermarket e.g. Alpine as the integration of bluetooth/nav/digi media/TV will probably work out considerably cheaper than going factory.

Although you can pick up an RNS-E for almost sensible money now, the digi tuner boxes alone sell for almost £500 second hand! You'd still need to add additional modules for external sources so it quickly mounts up.

By the way, post an intro thread and some pics of your new purchase :D be nice to see if we recognise the car

And as for the iPod query, yes, there are a couple of iPod options. One is a Dension gadget, but Brian has another option....I'm sure he'll be along shortly to tell you what it is. :)
