oil top-up for 2000 s8

what type of oil would i need to top up in my 2000 s8?
i am going cross-country from barcelona to castelo branco.s

Surely just for topping up it won't matter much anyway. It's the main changes that need to be right.

I keep a bottle of Shell Helix 5w30 fully synthetic for topping up, luckily rarely needed. :cool:

It's not recommended to mix different brands of oil as different manufacturers may use different additives which are not tested for compatibility and might cause unknown reaction.

Will also depend upon if you're using long-life or conventional oil, presumably?
