D2/S8 gearbox hunting when cold

Hi I have a final edition S8 which I still love and have put 205k miles on ... in the last 10k the gearbox seems very sluggish when cold and when warmed up doesnt change as slickly as it used to ... the car has been regularly serviced but the gearbox is original and hasnt had anything done to it ... Any obvious things to try before I take it to the local stealer ? Appreciate any thoughts ... I am happy doing services etc but not overly confident with the spanners ..

thanks , Steve

I'm amazed its done that many miles frankly Steve as mine failed at 118k with no services/oil changes that I know of done to it!
Where abouts are you?
Options really are a last ditch attempt to flush it but be prepared to put in either a recon box or perhaps even a service exchange new one from TPS/VAG like I did when mine went

Mines only done 125K (miles) and I had the gearbox fluid and filter changed very recently - first time it had been touched.
It was transformed. +++

A knowledgeable local independent did it, not Audi.
What came out was apparently quite mucky. :o

A few people have said that :) I am in Suffolk but travel downto near Heathrow regularly . Concern is the cost of repair etc when considering the residual of the car ... but everything else is good so I get to tkeep it and I still love it ... interestingly I got 27mpg on a run the other day , never got more than 25 before .. seems to much of a coincidence ...

Do a scan and check the MAF sensor as sometimes when this fails it gives false readings to the gearbox and engine ECU and this can result in gearbox issues but also running lean issues which will give better fuel consumption but ultimately damage the engine if left un-checked
