Yet another reason I'll never buy a beemer...
|
Been getting reported for years and insurance cos etc. denied it could happen
|
Apparently VW group cars are not immune either (including Audi and the A8), not going to say here but Google is your friend.
I feel sorry for the BMW owners and the way they are handling the whole thing. |
Pretty much any car that uses a similar system can be a target.. Mine is a bugger to check that it's locked as my colleague found out the other day when putting a new parking ticket in the car.. kept trying the handle to check was locked, and it kept unlocking itself :)

Nothing new here, pretty much any car is vulnerable to this, other cars that use physical lock just need lock cylinder broken as well which takes couple of seconds. :Confused:And £6300 device?:Confused: most of cars in VAG group can be done with sub-£20 cable from e-bay.

Yup, just the Beemers get nicked because they're a proper premium car not an expensive VW/Skoda. :D
Just kidding. +++ |
A simple £80 device off eBay can do it to pretty much any D2 or D3 guys....
There are more devices to program VAG's! |

Not new.
Still, I prefer Beemer to VAG. Never thought I'd ever say this, but it's a fact Beemers run rings round the equivalent Audi, despite being RWD. I test drove a last of the line BMW M5 E39, and no way would a D2 S8 outrun that thing. Better support of their older models too - you can still get most of the parts for a 1975 BMW 1602, whereas with Audi... ...I rest my case. |
Amen to all of that, Nollywood. +++
Also, an E39 M5 handed me my arse when I had my S8. |
