RNs d in safe mode

I entered the wrong code into an RNs d and now it has gone into safe mode....how do you get it out of safe mode so you can enter the correct code?

Thanks

Ranjeet

RNs d reset

Just googled it and you have to leave it in for an hour to reset...(thanks Ian)

I believe you can enter it wrong 3 times first before it locks up, after that you need to wait for certain amount of time with ignition on and if you still keep entering wrong code waiting time doubles after each wrong code.

Yes - after 3 wrong tries, you need to leave it powered up for 1 hour and it will unlock letting you try again.

See, who needs a code. In a max of a mere 138 days, you could try every code, although with the RNS-D they seem to all start with a 1, bringing it down to a mere fortnight.... :D

Still, makes the £40 for Audi to retrieve it look very tempting as a bit of a time saver ;)

or if you can prove you own the car it came out of my local Audi dealer provided a radio code FOC for a Concert head unit from my dad's scrapped A4 :D

fee to audi

I think i m in favour of paying audi 40 pound rather than have my car running for a complete fortnight...

Mind you would be a good excuse to go on a long haul journey!!!! lol

Don't know about RNS but for regular radio manual says that dealer will provide code free of charge and many of the dealers do provide it free of charge.

I had done my done at Northampton Audi. Before them I called Bedford and they refused to do it free of charge and asked for half hours labour even after I pointed out that manual says it's free and threatened to complain to head office. They said it's free only for the first owner.
Northampton Audi- no problem at all, they informed me it's free of charge themselves even without me asking. They charge half hours labour to headquarters for it like for any warranty work. I had second unit with me and asked if they can do that one as well. They said they can only do it if it's in car or they can change it first at 1 hours labour rate(just under £80) and then give code for free. But they said that I can swap it myself and book in again to do it free of charge. No need to be the original unit that came with car or any proof of ownership.

Yes my dealers do it for free as well  if I were you I would pop down and ask nicely ;)

Ditto, Northampton Audi did mine FOC, after Coventry Audi refused, I had the same argument with them. I'd not had the car long at the time, guess which dealer got my business thereafter?
