Visor mirror, replaceable?
I'm doing a swap to Alcantara interior, and the passenger visor with my kit has a cracked mirror. Any thoughts on replacing it? Must be possible, I'd think.

Well, no reply, but here's what I'm going to try....
These visors, they're melted around the edges and that's how they're sealed closed, so going back into them is a near impossibility. The glass is only glued onto some foam, so I've busted that out the rest of the way. I'm going to buy a plastic mirror rather than glass and cut it to the correct size. If I use glass I cannot bend it at all to fit it whereas the plastic will bend enough to fit even if larger than the hole. We'll see how it turns out... |
I've just swapped my interior to Alcantara to match the seats that were already there (thread HERE) so if you need me to take some pics of the alcantara visors then let me know. I would say that a good trim shop should be able to convert them. Mine seem to be a bit "thicker" than the standard visor so maybe needs more padding to get the shape. A local vehicle trimmer made up a new panel for my sunroof liner as the donor car one didnt match and was a black material +++

Im not sure what you're talking about... I have alcantara visors, but one has a broken mirror glass. I'm fixing the glass. No reason to get them recovered for that. I'm only saying that cutting them open to fix the glass isn't a real option.

Interesting. My alcantara PF visors have mirrors actually made of metal.
I only realised that when taking the light unit out to replace the bulbs with LED's. So my solution would be to obtain some suitably shiny metal, cut to size and glue it over the damaged glass. |
