Mmi upgrade goes pear shaped

Using an internet acquired set of upgrade disks to take the MMI software from 2120 to 5570 I got the "Drive error! MetaInfo cannot be analysed!" message. I sent the disks back and bought the Audi set for £20 less but am still getting the same message.

Any ideas on how I can overcome this please or is it an expensive trip to the Audi dealership?

All I can think of is try a laser cleaning music CD .
In my experience the chinese ones on ebay with brush/felt and solution are best but for some reason they call them 'CD rens creaner' on the CD's voiceover.

just a thought but i seem to remember that you cant go directly to 5570 from that early, you need to upgrade to another version first

anyone verify, my memory on this isnt great

You can go to 5570 from anything with the 3 disc version of the upgrade. I went from 10 something to 5570 in one hit...albeit i had to run some of the discs a few times.
I would go for the cd cleaner too?
Just a thought, you could try copying the cds to coputer to verify they are ok...i just downloaded mine so it will work with CDRs.
If you have an ami, it could be that your ami and cd are on the same address. Some Kits dont ground pin 4 on one of the connectors so they are both on he same addresses, so you could also try pulling the power on the ami to test this.

Thanks for the tips. I don't have an ami, do have the 3 cd set and will definitely try the "rens creaner".

Have you tried all 3 discs?

Or two CD changers, I too had this problem of clashing MOST-BUS addresses.
