When i bought my car last year i knew i would need a wheel refurb pretty soon.
I think now would be a good time to get all my wheels done +++

I'd wait for the spring. The thought of taking my newly shiny wheels out into all that snow (if it happens) and salt :tuttut:

Darren,

I had the same idea at this time last year - and took the opportunity to swap over at the same time to winter tyres running on 18" wheels. I sent the 20" FE wheels off to Pristine Wheels, who did a great job, and I put those wheels back on in the spring. It probably cost me less overall in tyres as well.:)

Although they don't look very shiny they are Metallic. Does anybody recommend a good wheel polish or wax for these ?

Well, I have used Mer Wheel Wax which is easy to apply, long lasting and the sh*t just hoses off. I went for a couple of months having cleaned and waxed the front wheels (always the worst for picking up brake dust etc) but not the rear wheels and the fronts were so much easier to clean. I guess that there are many similar products but it worked for me. +++

I used Poorboys SSR 2.5 because thats what i had and then bought some Poorboys Wheel Sealant that i found awesome stuff, goes far, smells nice, easy to put on and take off after and makes your wheel pian act like body paint after it had a good seeing to. Water beads and cleaning them after is a blessing.

I took my A8 wheels off before the meet and cleaned the inside and outside then waxed them with this both sides to protect them better +++

Naturally I would expect you to do the insides as well, Neil! The longest job last time I did mine was getting the glue off from the insides where previous weights had been positioned. Thats why I didnt get the rears done at the same time.

As you can see from the posts, Darren, there are as many recommends as there are people on the forum.+++ The key thing is to get it done as soon as possible after re-furb so you dont have a lot of crud to remove from the crevices and corners.

Thinners will take that glue right off, you might have to rub a bit harder over bits that still have sponge stuck to it +++

Yes, white spirit did the trick but the double sided tape was a bit of a b+gger. Bit of time and effort with a plastic tool was required. +++
