In Local News...
Not of any interest probably to any of you but me, but I'm quite pleased anyway.
For the last 5-6 years I've lived in Rugby, to get Shell fuel I've had to drive around 15 miles just to get to the petrol station, so I haven't. Not only that, here in Rugby, we've never had a 'cheap' supermarket fuel provider, always been 3-4p per litre more than neighbouring towns with an Asda filling station. So, what's so exciting for me? Not only have Asda just taken over the filling station opposite their Rugby store and will be opening later this month, which will hopefully bring the Asda low fuel prices to the town, but then yesterday I drove past an old Total station less than 2 miles from me and it was being newly fitted with SHELL signs :D With a bit of luck, the Porker will soon be running on cheap(ish) Shell V-Power +++ |
have Shell bought out Total?
Ive seen one change in Swindon and also one in Witney so far also, which is great news :D |

It became Shell quite recently and now has the same price, so last time I passed filled up there without having to queue at pump or till. +++ In this particular case I suspect it will get a fair bit of HGV traffic as the bigger station is only accessible to HGV's one way so they complement each other. It seems to be well equipped for that too. Going by it again tomorrow returning home so will check prices as we pass on the outward journey. |
There is ex-Total being re-fitted as Shell in Wellingborough as well.

It would appear that Gerald Ronson's to blame - his consortium bought 810 stations from Total and then sold 254 of them to Shell +++
