wondering if...
...Anyone thought about doing an in dash iPad mini install?
I have a pf a8 from 94' with single DIN. I was wondering if its possible to upgrade to a 2 DIN with the FL climate control, find a radio i can tuck behind and do a install of an iPad mini in the 2 DIN hole... sound needs to go through the speakers... thats all I am worried about and that I can maintain full climate control. What do you guys think? is it completely bonkers? Cheers, Jake |

Have a look on AudiSRS and/or Audi Addicts site as a guy known as Mr Chippy (banned from AudiSRS now but the thread is still there) has done a fantastic quality full size iPad install into a b5 rs4 so fitting a mini should be child's play by comparison!

Putting a FL climate control in a PF car is your first stumlbing block. That aint too simple. FL runs canbus. Converting from PF to FL switchgear is tedious, but more do-able.

Or find the 'rare as rocking horse doo-doo' FL Double DIN fascia, and use that. There are plenty of carputer installs that would follow a similar model for install and connection to speakers.

So using the double DIN dashboard(buying one from A8parts) and fitting my existing climate control would be easier? They seem to bee different sizes... I'll have a talk with Carl from A8 parts, he used to know exactly what can be upgraded from PF to FL.

After doing some measuring... then I'm gonna give up on having it installed in the dash.
New thought, installing it where the air-vents are... taking the whole air vent out(the cluster of three) and installing some fiberglass mount that will have it centered and elevated a bit(much like the new 8īs motorized navigation screen in open position) any thoughts on that? I can keep original climate control, and hook iPad up to my existing radio(Pioneer BT6300 single DIN flip screen) Cheers, Jake Posting a picture in 2 min on what it could look like(first hand drawn) http://share.xboxlife.dk/file/njg4mz...jyynde0yzg.jpg http://share.xboxlife.dk/file/zwm0ym...gfjy2ezmdi.jpg |
