Sorry to be dim - what is it, what's it from and where does it fit? Interested if it was a D2 option and an easy retro fit

It's a rare option over here to have the heater fitted and tbh for 65 notes i'd run an extention lead to the car and have a oil filled radiator in it, if i needed to warm it before i got in.

Hahah, funny huh!
On ETKA PR codes looks like that if your car comes with this feature: "9M9 Parking heater with radio remote control" |
I presume the Webasto heater just heats the inside of the car and doesnt heat the engine coolant/block? A block heater is a useful piece of kit and in Canada where I spent a few years many cars were fitted with one. A north American 2-pin plug dangled out the grill and you plugged it into a wall socket at the front of your garage. If you reversed out without unplugging it just pulled out with no damage. The car interior heated up quickly too as the coolant was already warm.

Ah, so I'd need the heater too.

Trucks have had them for 25 + years now, well cab heaters anyway. For peanuts you could make one that did the same job and fit it yourself. Yes Jim you'd need the heater unit and plumbing too. Kenlowe have been making them for Land Rovers for years too. Kenlowe Hotstart |
Webasto is acting individual with engine off. You can either program it from MMI or by remote. It only uses the battery when starts and then gets fuel from the tank. Fuel consumption is decent. 3-4 liters of gas per night. Webasto is heating the coolant as well so when you jump in the car, coolant is already at 90 degrees. This is better for engine starting on cold winter mornings with heated coolant and of course for passenger having the interior already warmed up. In my opinion this option worth all the money for the comfort offered especially for Euro winters when sometimes can get really nasty. Not to mentioned about all windows defrosted and clear ready to drive. Basically you won't need anything to clear off the snow and ice.
