Rear blind issue
Hi guys,
The rear sunblind isn't working in my car . If you press the button on the dashboard you here a clicky noise in the back but nothing happens , Any ideas anyone? Cheers Dave+++ |
Probably stripped gears - if you can hear something it's likely the motor it trying to move it. Not sure if there's a guide on here to stripping and repairing the blind?
There's quite a lot of info on US Audi sites for jobs like that so maybe worth a dig - hopefully someone will know more than me on the subject as mine's always worked so never had to look into it! Touches wood given how things are going at the moment...... |
The usual trick for anything mechanical like that is to "assist" the movement and see what happens.
Get in the back seat and hook/clip a suitable device over the top edge so you can pull it near the centre. Then while applying reasonable tension ask your "glamorous assistant" to press the switch. IIRC my PF blind was often a bit reluctant (I hardly ever used it), it just needed some careful lubrication of the mechanism to get it working smoothly again. |
Cool ,
I'll have a go at that +++ |
I would also check to see if your parcel shelf is mounted totally correctly in all it's slots and grooves, and check to make sure that the L shaped long curvey retainers underneath are actually glued on ok to the underside of the shelf and doing their job.
When I upgraded mine recently to an alcantara set these pieces were missing and the blind didn't raise until assisted to start raising by someone when the button was pressed, but the shelf had these 2 pieces missing from the underside (I assumed because the alcantara covered version was probably more hand made). When I carefully removed the same parts from the old shelf and glued them with contact glue onto the new shelf and refitted it I found it all works fine ever since It's got to be worth a check and a try +++ |
