Anyone in East London with VCDS?
This is not for me, it's for my son who lives near Shoreditch/Bethnal Green.
He has a 4.2 S4 Avant, I think it's a 56-plate so is presumably a B7. Basically the EPC light is coming on, he says intermittently especially when it's wet. For him, due to working hours, it's a PITA to get to a dealer to have the codes read so that he knows how bad/urgent it is. Is there anyone in that area East of the City that could do a private job (for a fair fee) evenings or weekends to tell him what's being reported? (He's within a stones throw of Brick Lane and Bethnal Green Road.) |
I'm in SE London, but I could go to him, it's only through blackwall tunnel,

Thanks JZA8, but as luck would have it my son decided to visit us today, so I plugged my VCDS in to his car.
Funny thing was I couldn't get it to talk to controllers 01, 02 or 03 (Engine, Auto-trans and ABS) where I suspect the problems lie. It read all the others and found a couple of innocuous codes, mainly resulting from a flat battery a while back. Any ideas why that might be? I'm using a paid, registered copy of VCDS-Lite (ex VAG-COM) and a USB lead bought on eBay; laptop running Windows 7 32-bit. Works fine on my slightly older S8. Is it a subtle comms/timing problem? |

If he is willing to come up to City University in Islington, I am there 9-5pm with genuine VCDS HEX cable and software.

Many thanks for the offer Goran but I think office hours are the problem at the moment. :-(
