With what aim exactly, it's probably like that already?
See this thread for some options and comments (including mine): http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=630

Make sure you note what it is now before making any changes. And report back here what you did and what the results were.

It would also be interesting to know what version TCU you have, see: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=5446

How funny both of those threads I have already read through , when I picked the car up the gear change on it was about as smooth as a punch round the back of the head from mike Tyson  , I'd already done some research before looking at S8's so understood about the gearbox oil and filter service issues , so was quite sure (with fingers crossed) that that would solve the problem , which it did , I did the service myself and hey presto it's a million times smoother .
However I've noticed that sometimes , mainly if I go to do a smooth overtake or maybe pull out of a junction on medium throttle that the gearbox doesn't seem to know what to do , it feels like it wants to change gear but doesn't quite know whether it should do or just stay in the same gear . If I give it a few more revs it powers on in the same gear , if I give it a bit more it'll drop down . On low revs or with my foot to the floor it goes through the gears as sweet as anything .
I thought that resetting the TCU may help here as it may then start afresh and adapt to my style of driving , that was when I discovered your threads and saw that there was a "sport mode" code , so I'm eager to give that a go to see what happens :D

Good luck. as you've presumably gathered from that the coding that is acceptable isn't necessarily the same for each TCU version.

I've never bothered to investigate my FL S8 as the gearbox behaves as I want it to. +++
(and I've got thumb switches on the steering wheel too  )

Ok ,
So now I've had a play with my vcds and had a look t the TCU
My part number is 4D0 927 156 BK and have changed the code from 00101 to 00111 , not had chance to drive it yet though so I'll report on that over the next couple of days .
So I have a BK TCU does anyone now understand what relevance that has and if there are any other coding options ,
Cheers

After driving the car around with the 00111 code , i'm well impressed with the difference , gear changes are noticably smoother and also the car seems to go when i want it to go now +++
