Removing Digital TV but keeping DAB Radio
I have a 2007 A8 with Digital TV, but I find this the most useless accessory--I'd far rather have a reverse camera or something--so I am thinking of whipping it out and selling it on eBay. I don't think it will dent the resale value of my car by as much as I might get for it, but at the same time I don't want to lose digital radio.
The part number is 4E0 910 148 B described in VCDS as R0078 TVhybridTuner 0360 and the Radio Tuner is 4E0 910 563. If I remove the fuse for the TV, the MMI does not like it, but I assume this is because the fibre optic circuit is broken. Can I do this without scuppering my digital radio? Thanks |
Do you mean digital radio through the TV tuner, or proper DAB ?
If you have DAB, its independent of the TV tuner so you can remove TV and keep DAB. You can remove the TV tuner, but you will have to fit a loopback on the fiber optic circuit or it will all fail to boot. I think the loop backs can be bought quite reasonably, try a8parts +++ |
Interested.....
If the DAB unit comes up for grabs - let me know - interested..........
