Strange issue... Rear courtesy light

Before I launch into a tirade of frustration, can I please check something...

Does your rear passenger roof courtesy light come on when you open the car remotely and open the doors (front or rear)? I assume it also comes on when you operate the front roof mounted switch to the on position, and operate the rear roof mounted switch? Mine has stopped coming on when using the remote to open the locks, when opening the doors, front or rear (when the switch is in the central position), and when I put the rear roof switch on, but will come on when I switch the front roof on.

Any ideas why.....?

Dodgy connection inside the light unit - there's a post somewhere on here about taking it to pieces and a bit of bending of a contact to make it work.

All Audis with the same light unit do it - my wife's A6 is a nightmare for it but I can't be bothered to remove it to sort!

That post may be from me.
I spent ages taking the thing apart again and again and even bought a spare unit from A8parts. It's still not right and I have tried so many things.

I think it's partly to do with my replacing all the bulbs with LED's (front and rear) making the electronics much more sensitive to bad contacts as the behaviour is different.

It's very weird, even now if it (as it does occasionally) misbehaves a little prod often makes it work. And it ALWAYS works perfectly if you pop it out of the headlining and leave it hanging on the cable.

Just to pitch in, this was also the case on my D2...all was fine until i switched to LEDs and then it would only work if i wiggled it around or took it out.

And the moral of the story? Don't swap to LEDs? :)

What colour is your light? I have a spare beige one available. ;)

When it's switched off it's dark but when it's on more a light white colour :snigger:
