i compared the market much better than them

i had my renewal from admiral the other day

:tuttut: £985

how about kiss my arse.

so i did thee usual compare the market, confuse **** that were no good cheapest being £950ish most being £4k ish :p

anyway elephant website came up cheapest at £711 not too bad but still too much so i made a few adjustments added a few named drivers and got it down to £580 the best i thought id get considering my mishap last year.

i gave admiral a call to tell them of there lost business, only to find out that elephant are a sister company to admiral and they would match my quote +++ so by the time we have gone over a few details i got a final quote of £407 :):yippee:

who said shopping about never pays

saved myself £578 tonight

It does pay. I declared all my Mods to RAC and it went fro £305 to £416?

Bell.co.uk got my business at £315. :)

thebluewhale 15th April 2009 08:50 PM

Christ £315. I dream of insurance quotes like that.

Unfortunately my cheapest was £780 unmodified.

Swiftcover.com here

429 quid less 35 quidco, just under 400 notes is good enough for me!

thebluewhale 15th April 2009 09:00 PM

I'm with them. It must be the postcode.

Gutted:-(

Nice one mate. Can i ask how you managed to call admiral with an Elephant quote of £580 and then getting admiral to come down to £407?

Can i be really nosey and ask what voluntary excess you've selected? Was the additional driver a woman, and do you declare it as parked in the garage or drive?

Have my insurance renewal coming up so would be good to get some tips.

Best quote so far is £478 (Elephant.co.uk) - fully-comp, No-claims protected, insured in swindon, on-street parking, 10k miles a year, £150 voluntary excess and the gf as an additional driver. No claims or convictions in the last 3 years.

Cheers,

Oli

i dunno really the only thing i changed from last year was the named drivers, put my dad and my older sister on it and changed that i driver other vehicles as well, that was with driveway parked in a oxfordshire village with 4 years ncb, 10k miles a year, £250 excess and personal cover.
it was the named drivers that cut hundreds off the price

Mine is £387 with Admiral on a '99 3.7 QS FL
fully-comp, No-claims protected, insured in swindon, off-street parking, 6k miles a year, £150 voluntary excess. 3 pts for speeding:o

Mines just under £4k with my mum(52), dad(53), sister(31) and me on it. Using my dads NCB and car is allways garaged. Increased £75 annually when I changed from my 4.2 QS to the S8. Will call around tomorrow to see if I can get a cheaper quote otherwise I think I will have to suspend it for a few months, anyone want to hire my S8 out? :(

Conan_the_Librarian 16th April 2009 06:42 AM

4K!!!!!!!!!!!

At 18 I had £24 in my pocket after deductions a week. My first car cost £60 to buy and £95 to insure. :ROFL:I was 19 and on £32 per week.
