Drag Strip

Just wondering if anyone else has run their D2 S8's on the drag strip. I only found one video on YouTube of an S8 on the strip. I only mention it as I took my car to Santa Pod on Saturday to see how it would do.

Pretty quick was the answer......14.77secs @ 96mph. Very happy with that result. Only did 5 runs, as I was nervous about keeping the transmission intact. Didn't monster it off the line either, as I avoided winding it up on the brakes. I just let go of the brake and stamped the throttle simultaneously.

was that in TIP or did you let it do it itself?

Just put into sport and let it do its thing, it changed up bang on 7000rpm each time and just about revved out in 3rd gear, as it crossed the line.

14 second bracket is about right. Botang put both his road going A8 and his stripped track A8 up the 1/4 mile at Bruntingthorpe with a late 15 time for the stock 8

O-60 here were significantly different for the stripped track version....

I have fairly regularly put my car on the drag strip as I only live 5 miles from Santa Pod.

There are some on my webpage http://www.baldrys.co.uk/Botang.htm

my best time at Pod in the stock 4.2 A8 is 15.01 seconds so 14.77 in an S8 souns about right.

In my experience winding up the gearbox by holding it on the brakes gives you a slower ET, as does messing about with tip, sounds like you did exactly the right thing.
