Ah well, A very intermittent problem that I had with the near side main xenon sometimes failing to work when first switched on (it always went on when I switched off and then on again) managed with spectacularly bad timing to manifest itself when the garage fired the car up for the MOT. (It was working on the drive to the garage!). So they had to replace the lamp there and then to avoid a re-test. The problem was arcing at the base of the lamp as the lamp contact was deteriorating/wobbly. However, cost of the lamp they got through their suppliers was £75!! - aaaargh - which is a teeny bit more than cost on ebay.:-(
I guess I should have checked the problem out myself but it had only been a very occasional issue and its been too wet etc to do anything outside. :tuttut:
