What happens when a car suspension designer does marine vessel design!

I was at an interesting conference this week at which an Australian who specialised in car suspension design thought he would have a go at cracking a problem concerning crew transfer vessels and how to safely put people on wind turbines. His solution blew the minds of minds of experienced naval architects. (One for Dezzy here).

Have alook at the site: http://www.nauti-craft.com/

Brilliant! what a difference. . . .now Dezzy if you can please make an aircraft carrier that does that. . . .over to you :D

Having done boat to boat and boat to fixed structure transfers myself I think this system is great, the alternatives are huge and costly.

See this video youtube link

Yes, the Amplemann and other similar solutions are one way - but as you say, expensive. Nauti-craft are looking at producing a larger version once they have got sufficient data from the proof of concept vessels. (You need to see the video - not on their site - of the 8m twin hull at speed. It looks like a demented jet ski!)

Now why didn't i think of that  Not sure i can get the carrier to do that tho Neil, but the pilots would like it i'm sure.
