How much is mine worth

I don't post much, apologies. I am thinking of downsizing and getting rid of my d2 bit I'm struggling on putting a price on it.

Its a 2000 2.8 2wd a8L with 156k on the car, but had extensive engine work in '08 including a rebuilt engine and the gearbox fluid changed.

It has a massive history with it, and recently adding it has had new front callipers, full service stamped and clock reset, and 4 brand new tyres. Before the sale I have some lower arms to go on, they're still ok but as I have them, I may aswell.

The engine since going in has 30k on it, same as box fluid. Also changed a few hoses on it as one near oil cooler had split.

It's been faultless for me in the 8 months I've had it. Just wanting to know a rough price and opinions mainly please.

Really need interior photos / full spec to gauge any idea of how desirable it might be. I can see it has blinds and full PDC, but no xenons, Sat Nav or TV.

The 2.8 non quattro is a rare car, and to be honest probably not something that is going to be of much interest to most folks on here as they usually seek the top models, but give us some more details and maybe we can help with a guide price for general classfieds.

Initial thoughts are that the bodywork looks smart, and the service history seems comprehensive, but the wheels look a little rough around the edges, and looks like theres probably a bumper grill missing.

HTH.

That'll take £100 off the value for a start! :)

As Ian says, though, a very unusual car bit, IMHO, not in a desirable way as it's non-quattro with the smallest engine and the 'L' isn't for everyone either.

What did you pay for it; that's always a good start.

Il get some interior pics for certain, but for now it has black leather seats/dash etc
Carbon wrapped trims and mouldings
Privacy glass
Blinds and rear blind
Fully electric seats all working

I'm only young and that's why I bought the 2.8 2wd, insurance purposes :(

And unfortunately missing both grills, been trying to source them for a while to no avail.

Had a quick look at the 'completed' listings on ebay for 2.8s. All were Quattro and none long wheelbase. But 'not much' would be the summary of an answer to the value question. The quattros go for around £800 to £2,500 depending on the usual factors of milage, condition and spec. Have a look to see if you think there's a close match

Im not convinced its a Long wheel base. I'm not even sure there is such a thing as a 2.8 long wheel base non quattro in the UK..... ?

It doesnt look long in the photos....

"L" designation

Exterior looks very nice, looking forward to seeing the interior photos. It does sound like a bit of a rare beast - which can either be a good thing or bad thing when it comes to selling (normally the latter :(…).

Did you pick up the "L" designation from the manual/service book/sticker? If so, I think that could be short for "limo", rather than "long wheelbase"…

Where are you based btw?

Brad. 27th February 2014 07:05 PM

Yeah I never said LWB, its in the handbook being an L meaning limo.

I'm not overly sure I want to sell it if I'm honest, just do a lot of town miles in it so it takes its toll.

I'm in Sheffield btw.

The_Laird 28th February 2014 05:00 AM

Looks like my mistake. :o I thought the 'L' meant limo, but that also meant long. What's a 'limo' then?

tintin 28th February 2014 05:30 AM

L for limo

Limo seems to be just a standard designation on the model type - doesn't mean anything in particular as far as I can tell, you should have it on the options sticker in the car handbook and engine bay.
