LED Upgrade

Apologies if this steps on anyones toes or infringes on any rules.
Please let me know if it does and edit this thread accordingly.

I spoke to a mate of mine who sorted me out with all LEDs for my A4 and he said he's can sort out the A8 as well, I just need to conform numbers and types.
He did say he's happy to supply the kit to others and it will be cheaper if there is enough interest.

But for now I just need to confirm types and numbers.

4 Footwells - ??
4 Interior roof lights - 501?
4 Door puddle lights - 501?
4 Door pocket lights - Already LED?
2 Rear map reading lights - 501?
2 Front map reading lights - Already LEDs?
2 Mirror puddle lights - Already LED
2 Boot lights - Festoon?
2 Number plate lights - Festoon?
2 Vanity Lights - 501?
1 Glove box - 501?
1 Boot light - Festoon?
26 bulbs in total

The side repeaters already look like they are LEDs.
Am I missing anything?

Thinking of changing the DRLs, indicators and the rear lights.
Any thoughts on them?

I don't know the specifics for a D3, but festoon bulbs tend to come in 2 (or 3?) sizes so you need to check exactly which they are, typically around 38mm or 42mm IIRC.

Its normally not an issue cause you mod the light a little bit but that's a good point.
I will double check it.

Thanks.

Completely pointless but also I changed the red-lensed lights in the edges of each door with LEDs. But I'd say they are actually brighter with the standard bulbs.

The red lens clips off just like all the other interior lights

Indicators and rear lights are already LED.

Which bit is pointless?

The interior lights going to LEDs made a massive difference.

No, I mean it was pretty pointless of me changing the door edge marker lights for LEDs :o Changed them a couple of days ago and didn't really improve anything to be honest. If anything it made them less red and less bright!:

Went a bit mad with the LEDs after that point. Even felt the urge to change the GU10 bulbs in my porch lol

Ahh yeah the red ones are a bit pointless, my mate don't recommend doing them cause it don't make much difference really.

I was in rented accommodation when I did my A4, so my LED splurge went on my Mum's boat instead, replaced all of their old bulbs for new LEDs which was great.

Now I'm in our own home and we don't have any lights that will benefit from LEDs.
So its all on the car. lol

Interesting choice of leds, I just used same 501s all over the car, left the footwell original, and left the 2 front festons halogen as I dont use mirror obviously ;)
You will probably have problems with the number plate festons, they will flicker. Found the solution for it by fitting festons with just one CREE LED, very tiny chip but very powerful and it doesnt flicker same as smd ones, check my number plate led thread, last page, there is a link as well I believe
