D3 Big Service Day Today
 

When I bought the old girl I knew it needed a good full service and a cambelt so its been into the local VAG Specialist (Ultimate Cars) today to have the following done:

• Cambelt (Full Audi Kit)
• New Waterpump
• Full Oil and Fluids Service
• New Audi Drive Belt
• Gearbox Service

Well that's the big one done at least and the Auto box had just started to whine a little at 60 and be a little slow and clunky so it needed doing. I knew the box needed a service and like the belt used it to get a good chunk of money off the car.

Mechanic at the garage said he drained only 5 litres out of the Auto box so was running low and it was very black and burnt indeed so without doubt was well overdue needed to be done!

So good to have a mechanic who you know and does a good job, he has always looked after the 100, S6 and the D2 for me over the years.

Just burping the cooling system overnight and I shall collect in the morning ++++++

Good to hear - but why would the box oil be "black and burnt"?

Well dark and cooked, had a look at it and it was clearly past its best.

Looking through the history the Auto Box fluid has been topped up but never changed.

I'm afraid to ask - how much? :)

Good value, all in less than a thousand.

Dare not price that up at a Audi dealer.
