D2 A8 4.2 Quattro Sport (FL)
Bit of a longshot, I suppose, because I've sat on this for a while and now need to do something about it PDQ.
Our A8 has died. Gearbox failure. We've been quoted £3.5k incl VAT to fix it. That's a lot more than the car is worth. Waiting for a spare to come up isn't really an option. After much soul-searching, we've decided it's time to put the old girl down. The question is: does anyone here want to rescue her before we do so? The essentials: - 2000MY first registered Aug 1999. This was the dealer principal's car at Battersea Audi for 6 months. Then we bought it and have had it since. - Racing green - around 75k miles (haven't looked for a while) - MOT'd til September - RNS-E fitted to replace the RNS-D it had, GPS aerial replaced. - S8 cast alu wing mirrors - five spoke hollow spoke alloys - blinds, solar sunroof, electric rear lumbar adjustment, electric rear blind and manual rear side blinds - cambelt done in the last 2 years - possibly more recent - I am told that the petrol tank is almost full! The bad stuff: - most of the panels and both bumpers have a scuff, or a small ding. - there are some bonnet scratches and a light keying line down the nearside flank - the wheels need s refurb - the servotronic PAS is temperamental - pass airbag warning light is on (Mrs 66 claims to know a fix to shut it off) - ABS/traction control lights come on, go off, come on, go off... in the past this has been a faulty sensor. - some minor bits of trim missing - eg the numbered memory seating buttons in the driver's door - the one marked "1" has gone; one of the flaps in the central front cup holder isn't there any more. The car drives in limp mode - ie 3rd gear only. It's situated in SW London. Realistically this is a project for someone. A labour of love, really. Perhaps I've watched Toy Story too many times, but I am having real trouble with the idea of it being crushed. If a forum member here wants it, then on condition that they are going to administer some TLC to it and not simply move it on to a scrapper, they can have it in exchange for a £250 donation to the charity of my choice. As I say, I've let this slide a bit, and need to do something pdq. If anyone is interested in this proposal, I'd like to near in the next week, really. |
If only it was nearer to me I could be tempted to drive home in limp mode.
