Swapping pads question

Hi folks - the time has come to swap the pads on the D2 S8.
I'm doing all (front and rear) as they're all fairly well worn. My question is this. As I retract the pistons, presumably the fluid level in the reservoir will rise. How much will it rise? (I obviously don't want it to come over the top). Is this likeley to cause any air in the system to require bleeding, or should it be very straight forward?
Perhaps I should stagger the process and just do the front now and the rear much later (as they aren't worn anything like as much).

Cheers +++

I would do them staggered anyways or you will have to run the car in with not much in the way of good brakes at all! I changed my rear discs and pads at the same time as I upgraded the fronts to W12 discs and calipers and had to take a very gingerly set of drives to rack up a few hundred miles and bed them in! :rolleyes:

A good point +++.

Fronts this week then and the rears later in the summer.

Thanks.

And just a thought, but how old is the fluid? ;)

I had mine changed recently and it got rather expensive because I needed a whole new rear caliper due to a seized bleed nipple!

And another good point - I'll check back over the the history. I will on this occasion just do the front though I think. :D

I did the rears a few weeks back including replacing the discs and the rise was from the full mark to the bottom of the neck when the piston on one side was wound fully home using a piston retraction tool - approx £10 off the 'net - or use Dezzy's method of screwdrivers and C-Clamps. The tool is worth it.
