Well that's £430 in parts bought.....
 

Have had a bit of a smell of gearbox oil of late - mentioned at the service in June as being 'nothing to worry about' but noticed it appeared to be getting worse. Had the car MOTd a week or so ago and had a look under it while I was there and the tailshaft oil seal on the centre diff output is leaking quite a bit - wasn't too worried until I realised that's only got a 1 litre capacity as it's not gearbox oil it's leaking.....

Had the car up on ramps on Friday to confirm what parts are needed. It'll be getting its 2nd gearbox service in my ownership (last one was 3.5 years ago shortly after buying) so ordered the replacement tailshaft with modified flange (£172!) plus the revised seal to suit, gasket and strainer for the gearbox itself, 8 litres of ATF fluid and a litre of diff oil, plus some sundries.....

Worryingly there is engine oil leaking from the bellhousing too, which we cleaned up. If it's as bad when it goes in again for the gearbox work then most likely the gearbox will be coming right out of the car so the crankshaft oil seal can be changed :(

Hopefully getting done next Friday, but depends on workload at my friend's garage
