FAULT: ESP/Steering Angle Sensor
1 Attachment(s)
Hi guys
I was changing steering wheel buttons and since I finished the ESP light won't go off. After a scan I get the steering angle sensor fault, see attached The procedure was: - disconnect (-) on the battery - pull the Airbag fuse out and that's it really. I did not disconnect any connectors other than the buttons connector, but on one or two occasions I may have pulled the airbag cable a little, is that what caused the problem ?? Thank you +++ |
Why did you pull the airbag fuse when you unplugged the battery?
I get that error when my battery use to go flat and the light would not go out. Go for a drive round the block and it will go out. Mine always did. |
Well, I just followed the guide, it's possibly unnecessary, but I didn't fancy airbag going off in my face with just few inches away from it.
I wasn't sure about driving because steering angle sensor can make car do weird things when not working properly. I will have a go before taking the airbag out again Thanks Scott +++ |
I've never disconnected the battery or removed a fuse when working on air bags.
I was rewiring a Touareg air bag plugs with weekend. Just make sure the ignition off and you'll be fine. For your error, drive it and you'll be fine. Its like it needs to recalibrate it self or something. |
I will take it now for a spin to B&Q and see if this will solve my problem.
Cheers Scott and I will update this thread as soon I'm back +++ |
Panic over, light was gone after first turn, cheers Scott +++
