Winter Wheels / Tyres

+++For sale,

Set of Fully refurbished fat 5's.

I sourced these as a set of spare winter wheels. 2 of them were bought as brand new and unused, having been spares. I had them all powder coated to match. They are a light silver / grey colour. They are without cracks / buckles / repairs / dents and have been used in total for a few thousand miles only between January - March when I put on summer wheels / tyres.

Tyres are Nokian WRA-3 in 245/50/18 104XL V. A tyre made in Finland (they know a thing or two about winter). These are a premium tyre. Check the reviews.

Here they are waiting for the refurb:-

Tyres have some 7-8mm tread, so as good as new. More photos to follow.

Looking for £650, which is equivalent of buying the tyres and fitting, and having a set of 4 gorgeous fat 5's for freeeeee +++

Collection from Cheltenham preferred.

That's a good price for freshly refurbed wheels and decent tyres +++

High load index as well, which I'm guessing is required for the D3?

Dan 18th October 2014 05:23 PM

Yup, high load index is always good in my book. Stiffens up the sidewalls and prevents saggy looking tyres!

I guess these would fit a D2, though 245/50 would be a bit oversize vs the usual 245/45 (or equivalent).

What width and offset are they, IIRC Fat Fives are 8.5" as opposed to the more normal 8" on a D2, though presumably not a problem if the offset is appropriate.

Have you got a photo of the wheels with tyres on please?

Erm….

Sorry, no idea. I wouldn't have thought the width would be an issue. I'm sure someone knows the answer, and I'm sure come to think of it that I've seen D2's with fat 5's on. You're welcome to head over and try one and see if it goes on ok!

The information is normally on the wheels, near the hub, cast into the metal near the part number. Just post all that here (or a close-up picture) ;)
Offset is ET and is pretty important; the other stuff is usually pretty obvious from how it's recorded.

I am running oversized tyres on D2, they are 255/45R19 and wheels 8.5" wide ET 35. I had them rubbing a bit on big bumps at speed on front just where the wing starts near the bumper. Bent the inner lip of the wing a bit and all is fine now, no more rubbing. Fat 5 has ET 45 so will sit 10mm more to inside and with tyres being 245 instead of 255 will give another 5mm so should fit just fine.

I think ET45 (or 48?) is the D2 standard anyway so that sounds good.

Could be very interested, but need to think about a plan.....

ainarssems 18th October 2014 09:16 PM

Standard D2 S8 wheels are ET48

I'll take some photos tomorrow and post them up.
