Locking system failure

Has anyone experienced a total failure of the car to unlock or lock with either key?

When I went out this morning the comfort access didn't work so I thought nothing of it and tried the buttons on the remote (nothing) so I tried the wifes key with the same result.

So I lifted the door handle and unlocked manually, this only unlocked my door, got in and started with the key and let the wife in using the unlock button on the drivers door.

Drove the car to destination got out locked with key buttons no problems, returned to car late evening and succesfully unlocked and started the car using comfort access.

Arrived back at the place where we are staying, got out and the car wont lock, not comfort, or buttons on either key????

I got back in and tried the buttons on the key and it was fine, tried again outside and it wouldn't work.

So i held the remote against the window and it worked and thats as far as I have been.

Tomorrow will tell if its still playing up or not.

Is the above happened to you or do you think this maybe interference from something in the area effecting the car?

Are the car battery and the remote batteries both OK del?

Does it only happen in that one place?

Delboy 30th October 2014 08:15 AM

Yes as far as I am aware all the batterys are good, its a new high capacity glass matt battery, and the remote batterys were replaced about a month and a half ago.

So far its only happened in the one location, I'll keep you posted.

Only concern is if it packs up, how on earth does one lock the car?

If its it doing it in one location, you could be getting interference.

Fingers crossed, Stupidly I left the VCDS cable at home.

That's why I bought a laptop just for the VCDS and its kept with a cable always in the glove box, you just never know what is going to happen with 8s

It is very weird. VCDS should tell you more about the problem, more likely a Kessy issue

Well since last post car has behaved itself with none of the carry on of before at various locations including the overnight local where I thought there might have been interference.

Once I get home I'll scan for faults.
