20" D4 wheels on ebay
Hi.
Just wondered if anyone has purchased a set of these wheels from Ebay. They are 20 x 9, ET 37, 10 spoke wheels (pt num 4H0601025AG), with Dunlop winter tyres with approx 7mm of tread on them. Apparently, the guy has several sets which he gets in from Germany. If anyone has purchsed (or got) a set on their D3, would they be kind enough to post a pic or PM me a pic pls? I'd just like to see how they look, considering they would come out a further 14mm ish (8mm offset difference + 6mm ish rim width difference), assuming my current 8.5J wheels have an offset of 45. The seller has ok'd me to try one on the car, but, won't be receiving any until next weekend - plus, a photo could save a trip! My car is crying out for a new set of wheels and these seem a nice option. I think the 19" BBS alloys look lovely, but, seem to be quite rare. Many thanks |
Hello mate
Look at the one next to mine, these are 20'' with similar offset but spacers fitted all the way round coz otherwise they look a bit weird, like all other wheels with ET45 If you like the look of wheels with ET45, then you wont notice much difference, they will stick out extra 8mm only from your current setup so you'll be fine 9J is fine as well, I have 9J's but with 9J you have to use 275s tyres, or at least 265s, 255s look a bit stretched and that affects inner tyre wear as well, not hugely, but it does. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1413128604 His wheels are slightly more out than mine and it looks really good http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...psf6ac29e9.jpg |
Thanks for that.
Those 20" wheels look very similar to what are for sale......maybe they are the same! They do look nice on the car though. I thought I did my maths correctly mind - 8mm for the difference in offset, plus another 6-7mm for the half, of the half inch difference in wheel width. Either way, the wheels are moving in the right direction as the current wheels look far too inset. Best I start saving! |
These are the same wheels and if you want them to be set out a bit more then you are going in the right direction.
I think his are 8.5J with same offset and 20mm spacers. You by going with smaller offset and from 8.5J to 9J will notice difference and if still not 100% happy you can always fit hub centric 12m spacers with nncie aluminium spigot rings all the way round, and NO, there is NOTHING wrong or dangerous with using spacers. Mine are almost invisible as they fit nicely to the back of the wheel, same diameter-not sure if you can actually get spacers with with different diameters. 16x longer bolts and 4x long locking bolts and you'll be ready to go +++ |

More seriously I thought that D3 and D4 wheels were not directly interchangeable, think you will need a spiggot rings at least as the centre bore is bigger on the D4? |
The guy sells other tyres and wheels too.
He trades under 'genuine_tyres' and is based in Edgeware, London. I have not visited his premises yet, but, the owner seemed quite helpful on the phone. Good point about the wheel/hub diameter............I assumed they'd be the same. I may be going for a look soon so I could take a measurement. |
Have a read of this, D4 will fit a D3 with spigot rings but the other way wound would be more awkward.... D4 is 66.1mm, D3 57.1mm hub diameter.
One of the reasons I am putting of a D4 until next spring is my winter wheels won't fit onto a D4 :( |
All you need is the spigots and longer bolts as guys already mentioned.
I've never used plastic ones and never will. Just double check if they are 66.1 or 66.6. I used these (66.6) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Conversion...item417a922ded Here are 66.1's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alloy-Whee...item3ceab94e00 |
