Unbalanced rear centre vent mystery solved

While dealing with the recent floods in my car and gurgling in the rear vents I noticed that the nearside vent was blowing (and gurgling) much stronger than the offside one. At first I thought it might just have more water in the duct, but it didn't change as it dried.

Today I found what I think is the cause; having taken all the front carpets out on the drivers side for thorough cleaning I notice something that looked a bit awry.
The air duct appears to come down beside the fuse panel, turns to a flat underfloor shape and then has a joint under the drivers right foot before going rearwards. The joint was misaligned and fairly open.

It didn't seem to want to move to the correct alignment and stay there so I applied a suitable quantity of repair tool #1 (duct tape) and a lot more air now exits the offside rear vent.

"and gurgling" Sorry somehow it made me chuckle how laidback that sounded in the thread, I couldn't be so chilled about it.

After nearly 13 years of D2 ownership you just get resigned to dealing with interior flooding, though this was the worst I've experienced.
