dipped headlight bulb replacement
hey guys im finding my headlights are quite dull not bright at all and finding it hard to see at night, is there a direct replacement for the bulbs as im sure its not the ballasts or adjustment they are just not that bright.
Cheers!!! |
Get the alignment checked at Audi or a normal garage if you have vcds.
When I first got mine the headlights were fine, then the Mot tester went and adjusted the headlights and low and behold they were hopeless at night, Because the lights are self levelling they need to be setup with the car in a state ready to do it otherwise it can be screwed up. Likewise when taking the car for mot make sure you put it in jacking mode before you go on the ramps, otherwise the suspension will try and level the car. |
It's a D2 he's asking about! :)

single or bi-xenon? If projectors/single xenon then not much more you can do apart from replacing the bulbs and alignment. If bi-xenon they have a reflector that gets dull with age, so as well as potentially knackered bulbs, taking the unit apart and polishing the reflector could be worth a try.
I replaced the bulbs on my bi-xenons a few years ago with correct Audi packaged bulbs and it didn't make a massive difference - a bit, but I'm not sure I'd spend the money again! Replaced the fog bulbs with brighter bulbs and that made a difference :) It's easy with VCDS to screw up the alignment - you're supposed to put them into an alignment mode where you then get them set at the correct height, then do basic adaptation to bring the self levelling back into action. Fiddling around can cause the levelling system to throw a fault every time you drive, which is very dull! |
