Well I was driving down the motorway and it sounded like a rock had struck the underside of my car. So I got off at the next junction and came to a stop at a set of traffic lights on a bend, went to pull away and bang no drive at all and could hear bits of metal falling on the floor!!

Managed to push the car to a side road so out of danger and walked back to retrieve said pices of metal to see if I could make out what they were!

The pices were the n/s/f driveshaft inner cover smashed in two!

The driveshaft connects to the gear box via a 6 bolt flange, but for some reason there are no bolts any more lol, all six bolts are completely missing not sheered off just missing lol

So ordered correct bolts from audi as the only have 4 in stock (great stock controle) so hopefully very easy fix lol

Sorry to hear. These bolts are supposed to be use once only so you need to replace them every time you undo them. I have seen them come loose on many VAG cars if not replaced. They are either different tread angle for bolt and nut(60&55 degree) or pre-coated with thread-lock so that they do not come loose easily. In my personal experience I never replaced them but always used thread-lock to prevent them coming out and never had any issues.

My thaughts also. I'm expecting them to have a thread lock coating already applied, I have ordered 12 so I can do both sides :)
Will not be here till Tuesday tho so will not be able to do them untill next weekend.

Does anyone know the torque settings for these?

inconvenient but ‘easy’ fix..

Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed for a simple fix.
Good luck.
