Air Compressor output test

Hello All
Got the dreaded orange and yellow suspension lights on , fronts on the floor.

Took the car apart this morning and tested for leaks , cant find any, i have had the orange light on last week but the suspension stayed up.

Last week i read codes , air leak in system and no default level.

after my investigation today im getting no default level and lower limit reached.

Compressor runs when car is started then the lights come on and lift is greyed out on mmi.

The control block seems to be ok , as i was running output test through vcds i could here the different output air valves operating in turn as i was going through each step.

I suspect the compressor is knackered but i wanted to see if i could measure the output using vcds to see if its output is down.

I believe you can get the output pressure from the measuring blocks some how but im not sure.

Can anyone guide me as to where i can find its current output and also what should it be.

Many thanks in advance as allways.

Level control module 34 in vcds

Run output tests go through them in order and when you see accumulator test pay attention to the max pressure.

When I ran mine I saw around 10-11 bar.

Max pressure for the conpressor is 16 bar

I also ran a log file of the pressure sensor and selected the various settings in the mmi and saw as high as 12 bar on the log.

But if you don't know how to log various settings stick with the output tests it's quick and dirty, each test is consecutive so stick with it until you see accumulator test, by the sounds of it, it will most likely fail.

I would order Bagpipeandys ring set so you can rebuild your conpressor.

Ran the output test a couple of times .3.2bar.
I take it thats a little low!

Yes that pressure does, unfortunately, seem too low. All the best with a repair. Get your '8 back to where it ought to be.

Get yourself a rebuild kit from bagpippingAndy.

Why did u go that route vs rebuilding your old one?

You going to rebuild the old one, I'll buy your old one if your not.

I had my old one rebuilt a year ago with the bagpipingandy kit and its still fine with no faults recorded in VCDS.

My A8 originally had a bump on the passenger front corner , I had to replace the compressor cage as it had been damaged.OoOn closer inspection the other day I noticed theres a crack the input connector and it looks like the output thread has been cross threaded as theres thread lock round the brass cconnector.on seeing this I thought it would be best to replace it.
I ended up buying the compressor from airsuspension.eu on ebay. £297 with 2 years warranty.ordered it on sunday and it arrived today.
Will be fitting tomorrow morning so will let you know how it goes.

Ahh that will explain the loss of pressure then.

Good luck with the new one.
